Finally, I got the sample of the Smok Fetch Mini Kit(
). To be honest, I've been waiting for this moment for several weeks since it was released. For me, personally, I'm very digging this glass construction design due to its unspeakable charming. And I think the majority of pod kit lovers also feels the same. So, let's not waste any time and just check it out!
Initial Thoughts
As a matter of fact, we've seen pretty many vape pod kits with glass panels this year. Such as iJoy Neptune Pod Kit, iJoy Luna Pod Kit, etc. But, you can make a choice easily by comparing them together. Whether in terms of size or parameters.
In my view, Smok just interpreted their thoughts on the concept of pod mod kits in two forms. Smok RPM40 Kit and Smok Fetch Mini Kit. And it's undeniable that these two kits are both great!
The Battery Mod
Here is the highlight of the whole kit. The glamorous glass panels on both sides. And there's a lot of words to describe how beautiful it is. Shinny, gorgeous, blazing, dazzling, and more!
The official designation of this configuration is 2.5D arc edge glass panel. The curved edges all around ensure a comfortable touching feel to the utmost extent. And these two glass panels will reflect different lines from different angles. It's just beautiful!
On the left side, you can see a handful of buttons and a piece of TFT OLED screen display. The big fire button, up/down button, USB port, and 0.96-inch screen.
The maximum output wattage of this kit is also 40 watts. And the actual functions of the Smok Fetch Mini Kit are 100% identical to Smok RPM40 Kit. Let me list them below.
- Press the fire button and up button together to clear the puff counter.
- Press the fire button and down button together to change the theme color.
- 3 Clicks on the fire button to lock the power(Once you do this, you can not use the device temporarily)
- Press the up and down button together to lock the wattage(Once you do this, you can still vape but can not adjust the wattage)
That's all about it. Actually, it's easy to get started with those functions. Honestly, I've never used the lock features since I got the sample. And I just doubt about the practicability of the lock functions.
The Pod Cartridges(Or Tank)
Just like Smok RPM40, there're also two pod cartridges and two replacement coils included in the package. RPM pod for RPM coil heads only and Nord pod for Nord coil heads only.
The Nord coil head is what I've been using and I have used the RPM coil head already on Smok RPM40 Pod Mod Kit. To be honest, I legitimately think these two pod cartridges are both designed perfectly. Whether in terms of the flavor or the vapor, it's just in the right place.
Unlike from the Smok RPM40 Pod Mod Kit, this kit adopts a magnet installation method. Look inside, you can find there's a big magnet with a QR code printed on it, and you can use it to verify the authenticity.
On the top, you can see the air slot. And there's another airflow hole which you can find it in the picture in the section of initial thoughts.
Personally, I prefer the magnet installation compared to the clip-in installation. It's more convenient and efficient. What's important is you don't need to worry about the clips being worn out due to long-term use.
The Verdict
Frankly speaking, the more I use this device, the more I like it. Specifically the glass panels. But, it's always hard to be perfect. And here is something I want to complain about.
The first thing is the non-adjustable airflow, which is the same as Smok RPM40. Obviously, the two coils included in the package,0.4ohm and 0.6ohm, both work well with the rich airflow. But if you're an MTL person and install your own Nord coil which is more than 1.0ohm, the rich and non-adjustable airflow will not make you feel good enough.
The second one is the glass panel. Though it feels great in hands, the truth is it's definitely a fingerprint magnet. And the gaps all around between the frame and glass panels are pretty easy to accumulate dust. So, you have to clean it regularly if you want to keep it beautiful all the time.
And the third one is the movement of the pod cartridge after installing it. Maybe I'm too picky. Anyway, I think this kit will be much better if these cons are resolved.
As for the pros, I think there's a lot of things worth mentioning. The glass panels, the simple but useful functions, 40w max output, compatibility of coil heads, and 1200mAh internal battery. There's a lot you can find after you try it out!
