SMOK Mag 225W Kit Review – Gun Power, Lock & Load

SMOK is stepping into 2018 with a brand new yet recognizably design for its Mag-series of mid-rangers. SMOK has been consistently focused on bringing very good specs at tempting prices. That’s no easy task, yet Mag makes it seem almost effortlessly natural at this point, with devices like the Mag 225W.

The SMOK Mag 225W Kit leads the way – a compact mid-tier device that’s gotten several key upgrades this year. For starters, it’s been treated to a larger display that’s also higher-res – and it’s a six-color screen setting panel. Then there’s the chipset – 3-mode under a 225W output. A major bump in battery installation (Lock & Load button), ultra-convenient fire key (like the trigger of a gun), and an incredible TFV12 PRINCE subohm tank in 8ml capacity – we’re liking this new SMOK Mag.

Sure, you might be missing out on some small details here and there, but on Ave40, SMOK Mag 225W Kit is launching at just $90. Of course, no e-cig is without its faults. We would have loved to see a RDTA on the Mag 225W Kit. While at it, TFV12 Prince carrying a full set of TFV Prince cores, including Q4, X6, T10, etc. – would have been a nice touch as well. A deal we would gladly take any day of the week.

A metal unibody with gorgeous and exquisite aesthetic appeal – The SMOK Mag 225W Kit pulls it off magnificently in every aspect and we’ll enjoy every bit of it. The SMOK Mag 225W Kit has extremely flush and natural curves, quite reminiscent of a gun handle – ergonomically arranged for incredibly snug and comfortable handling – you will surely welcome this beauty’s feel. The mod barely flexes under pressure and feels as solid as a rock. Past SMOK devices have always been sturdy in their own right. This frame, however, is one of the sturdiest we’ve ever seen on a device of this price range.

The HD screen are blended in really well with the rest of the body and this is true regardless of the finish you choose – White Prism, Red Skull, Red Camouflage, Rasta Color, Belgium Color, Blue, Silver, Black and camouflage. Available in a multitude of color combinations, you are sure to find the one that best suits your style and fancy. Also,we really appreciate Mag stuck with HD OLED screen instead of saving a few bucks by going with a lower resolution.

Other exterior segment on the SMOK Mag 225W Kit is its distinctive trigger-type fire button, which tucks away neatly into the frame itself, as another really pleasant design choice. It not only enhances the overall visual appearance, but also makes using it unequivocally effortless as well. Anyway, you will certainly be impressed with the intricate details and chic accents all throughout the Mag MOD.

SMOK Mag 225W Kit packs a HD OLED with a six-color screen setting options. It managed to keep deeper blacks at full blast, which means a better contrast ratio rating. A pretty high one at that. The Mag 225W remains perfectly usable outdoors, with a strong sunlight legibility rating.

SMOK Mag 225W Kit is powered by dual 18650 batteries. An endurance of 77 hours is above average and in the ballpark for a 250W chip. The most ingenious, and indeed revolutionary, characteristic of the SMOK Mag MOD is its exclusive “lock-and-load” battery feature. Vapers can release the battery door located on the bottom of the device. Simply press the small circular bottom of the side of the Mag, and the battery clip will release in the same fashion a gun magazine clip does. Very nifty and clever attribute.

The performance is quite promising but it was let down by its relatively higher power draw in the power mode. But the only real let-down in this department is the lack of any quick charge support on the SMOK Mag 225W Kit. Its charger is capable of bringing the battery from 0% to around 33% in half and hour and a full recharge takes about two and a half hours. Then again, we can’t really be disappointed, considering the price bracket the Mag 225W Kit is competing in.

SMOK Mag 225W Kit, running up to a 225W power output, supports 3 modes – VW mode, TC mode (Ti, Ni, SS) and MEMORY mode. The user interface is getting kind of repetitive and can’t avoid referencing the old Smok devices, however, it shows a massive amount of specific vape data in a clear way, such as VW/TC MODE, vaping effect, voltage, battery life, resistance value etc. – making it incredibly easy to make any setting changes or adjustment. Also, Mag supports firmware upgrading, you can use the included USB port to upgrade It.
